Exporting images

The top right of the editor has “Exportieren” (export). For a still it opens “Bild exportieren” (export image). The stage already shows exactly the frame you will get.

How it works#

  1. Click “Exportieren”.
  2. Under “Format”, choose PNG or JPG.
  3. Under “Auflösung” (resolution), choose 1x, 2x or 4x. Below it you see how many pixels that makes.
  4. Click “Exportieren” in the dialog. The file lands in your downloads.

Size#

The base size is the output format in the “Bühne” tab, see Camera and framing. “Auflösung” multiplies it. With 2x, 1920 × 1080 becomes 3840 × 2160. No browser manages more than 16384 pixels on one edge. Beyond that the size is capped, and the dialog tells you.

PNG or JPG#

Format When
PNG Lossless and with transparency. The right choice for the App Store, websites and anything that should be cut out.
JPG Smaller files, but no transparency. Good for scenes with a photo background and for sending something quickly.

Transparent background#

  1. In the “Bühne” tab, under “Hintergrund”, pick the kind “Farbfläche” (solid).
  2. Turn on “Transparent exportieren”.
  3. Export as PNG.

Note

JPG has no transparency. If you export as JPG anyway, the background turns opaque, and the dialog points that out beforehand.

File name#

The file is named after your project, followed by the size, for example app-launch-3840x2160.png. A meaningful project name saves you the renaming.

And in a film?#

A film always exports a video, see Exporting video. If you also need the same scene as an image, create a still for it.

Note

Your browser renders the export, and the file goes straight to your computer. Billing counts exported renderings, see Billing and account.
